Patients with advanced illnesses and injuries are commonly seen in acute care settings. Often, patients are hospitalized because there are sudden changes in their condition, or their home support network is overwhelmed. Although there are many patients with advanced illness who receive good palliative care, some situations can be difficult for the healthcare team. This CE offering will review advanced palliative care cases in acute care and provide the learner with some strategies to navigate through the challenges that come with providing end-of-life care in acute care settings.
