Pharmacological and ventilatory support strategies for treating sepsis must adapt alongside data yielded from healthcare research. This presentation highlights new and significant information in the treatment of septic patients. Participants will analyze recent studies that measure the effectiveness of different sepsis treatments, including the Saline vs. Albumin Fluid Evaluation Study, Surviving Sepsis Campaign, and Restrictive IV Fluid Trial in Sepsis/Septic Shock. This session also discusses cases in which septic patients received care utilizing these new management strategies (e.g., fluids, antibiotics, and hemodynamic management). Finally, nurse practitioners can expect to learn about post-sepsis survival statistics and strategies.
